Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (1.15pm) Preview
This Group One for two-year-old colts showcases leading French prospects versus a notable runner trained by Aidan O’Brien. Perfect Rayif and Nighttime (Christopher Head) compete against Ballydoyle’s Puerto Rico from Ballydoyle. Graffard’s runner took the Prix Francois Boutin during his last outing, while the second French hope, with three wins from four, additionally successful at Group Three level, after secured the Prix La Rochette at the same venue back in September. Puerto Rico has been more active than both and got off the mark only in his most recent outing, taking the Group Two Champagne Stakes. He was a big price for an O’Brien-trained runner , but among the favourites did not deliver, he stands as a reliable second-favourite according to oddsmakers. The Solario Stakes victor, which secured a Group Three following a four-way result, deserves earns a spot in the field, like the Appleby-trained Time To Turn, winner of a Listed race at Ascot back in July.

Analysis of the 12.40pm Race
After a four-year run between 2018 and 2022 where the victor was unable to register a subsequent win, the French top event for juvenile fillies has since picked up renewed form recently including Blue Rose Cen (2022) and Opera Singer (2023) each recording Group One victories at three and last year’s runner-up, which was edged out by her 100-1 stable companion following being very short odds, claimed a French Classic in May. Green Spirit, with a clean slate in four starts featuring the D’Aumale at Longchamp last time out, fronts the local challenge this afternoon and also ranks first in the Timeform ratings. However Aidan O’Brien’s Diamond Necklace (unbeaten) is also undefeated – following two runs – and is expected to offer strong competition. She claimed a Listed race at the Curragh in September and success for this offspring of the stallion St Mark’s Basilica would represent a big moment for the breed. Combined, the favourites in the market account for nearly 70% of the betting, however there exist additional contenders that deserve some consideration. Ozone (unbeaten) is perfect after two starts, though on lesser courses, most recently taking a black-type contest at Lyon. Also, the Burke-trained The May Hill Stakes winner Aylin claimed a Group Two at Doncaster most recently and the trainer was in better form.
