Manchester Jewish House of Worship Incident Victims Identified

Melvin Cravitz, sixty-six, resided in Crumpsall - the area where the Jewish worship center is found, as stated by law enforcement.

Two men killed in an assault on a Jewish house of worship in Manchester have been revealed by law enforcement as Adrian Daulby, aged 53, and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz.

Three additional individuals are still hospitalized with critical wounds after the assailant used an automobile into people before attacking with a knife on Thursday.

The attack, which authorities have declared was a terror-related event, took place during Yom Kippur, the most sacred occasion in the Jewish tradition.

The perpetrator, who was fatally shot at the site, was a 35-year-old UK national of Syrian descent who was not on record to terrorism investigators, as stated by official statements.

Community Response

"Our hearts are broken," the nation's top rabbinical authority declared.

In an interview with a national radio program, he said: "Yesterday's events was a terrible shock to us, something which we had apprehensions regarding might happen because of the preceding circumstances."

The attack was not only "a very dark time" for the British Jewish community "but for the entire nation," he added.

Official Reaction

"The government's duty is to guarantee our Jewish citizens, our residents can conduct their daily activities with security and assurance," the Home Secretary declared.

"It is unacceptable that Jewish people in our country to feel compelled to live a smaller Jewish life, that they cannot go about their business and follow their beliefs and attend their religious centers in liberty," she added.

The attacker was not identified to counter-terrorism police, she stated to media outlets, and it was "too early" to say if there was a terrorist cell behind the attack.

Ongoing Probe

The police investigation was "moving forward quickly" and there was an additional law enforcement visibility at religious institutions across the UK.

"Authorities allocate security funding," the official stated, adding: "I think we will have to consider what further actions we can take to combat growing religious prejudice."

Greater Manchester police confirmed they were assisting the relatives of the two men killed.

"Our heartfelt condolences are with the families of the victims at this incredibly difficult period," law enforcement leadership declared.

He said that specialized support personnel were in communication with families and would maintain assistance through the coronial process.

"While protocols must be followed which require adherence, we promise to be considerate of religious traditions and sensitivities and to guaranteeing that these men and their families' preferences are respected," he continued, mentioning that the deceased individuals were from Crumpsall.

Autopsies are scheduled on the next day, as confirmed by official sources.
