Several of the nation's most notorious organized crime figures have been arrested in Dubai.

Lyons, McGill, Jamieson and Steven Larwood were reportedly detained on Tuesday.

Law enforcement allege all four are linked to organized crime such as smuggling to a feud between opposing organized crime groups in Glasgow and the east.

This dispute has reportedly resulted in a series of assaults, shootings and explosions since March.

International Cooperation

Law enforcement have been coordinating information with police in the United Arab Emirates, where the suspects are all residing.

It is unclear whether authorities in Scotland were notified of the Dubai arrests in beforehand.

It remains to be seen whether prosecution will be filed or whether return efforts will be considered to bring the men—who may be deemed a flight risk—back to Scotland.

Current Probe

Authorities working on a major anti-gang initiative have so far made 57 apprehensions.

Authorities have stated that the significance of the UAE detentions is immense.

“All four are active at the top tier of illegal enterprises, both at a British and an overseas level.”

History of the Suspects

Lyons is the leader of a network that has been engaged in a bloody conflict with a rival faction for decades.

In 2006, he survived a assault at a workshop in Lambhill, which ended the life of his relative.

He later relocated to abroad before settling in the UAE.

In spring, Lyons' brother, Lyons Jnr, and Ross Monaghan were murdered in a coastal bar in southern Spain.

Both men had spent the evening viewing the football final before they were ambushed by a single shooter.

A individual from Liverpool has been charged by authorities in connection with the murders, with a full extradition hearing set for the coming months.

Authorities have maintained there is no indication to indicate the murders in Spain are connected to the current gang war or that it was orchestrated in Scotland.

Other Background

McGill first became recognized to authorities for his actions as a key figure of a fan organization.

Since March, he has risen as a prominent individual in the gangland feud linked for a wave of violence in both east and western parts of the country.

Larwood is a linked individual of Lyons and previously resided in Spain before shifting to Dubai.

Jamieson, who has resided in the Emirati city for a several years, has connections to further criminal figures.

Authorities have refused to verify the detentions.

It is reported that official support has not been activated.

Emirati authorities have not yet commented on the developments.
