Interference and Toenails: Chris Eubank Jr vs Hearn Showdown

Eubank's grievances against Conor Benn along with his team caused a media event promoting the rematch to descend into constant bickering

Eubank, 35, took the chance to assert how Benn's camp as well as Hearn attempted to "disrupt" his preparation prior to his initial bout against Conor Benn during the spring

Among several claims, he stated how Team Benn meddled with his weight management, branding the group as "cutthroat" plus "uncontrolled"

"They tried every trick possible to try and destroy my chances in that previous bout", Eubank began, "Contract violations, penalties, recovery restrictions, sabotage scales, bias broadcasting and refereeing" – before Hearn dismissed the claims as false

The midweek media event marked the initial occasion Chris Eubank Jr & Benn have seen each other after their initial fight

The fighter ended up in the hospital after the win and mentioned shed a toenail because of "extreme dehydration"

"I've not once heard this much nonsense", the promoter responded, "Eubank are acting like the victim"

The UK opponents are scheduled to battle once more this fall, as Benn looking to get revenge after a decision loss

The rematch is attempting to recapture the magic from their initial match, when descendants from boxing icons Chris Eubank Sr & Benn Sr faced off before 60,000 fans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Chris and Hearn argued multiple times in the build-up to their initial fight, where Eubank often taunting the promoter each time Hearn talked

This bad blood has continued, with Chris accusing Benn for going on a "celebration lap" even after losing

"I'm telling you now & at this moment, you ain't no champion plus he most definitely is not no people's champion", Eubank declared

"They are not humble fighters" Eubank continued, "They're pretending. They are acting to be the heroes. Predators in innocent looks"

Benn did not rise to the bait, letting his promoter do the bulk of the talking

But, the young fighter promised to be not as "greedy" in the rematch

"It felt as if I had been a single shot close to victory, but I found myself always looking for the one punch", he said

After an entire media event full of squabbling, staredown went without significant drama

Eubank smirked toward his opponent, but after the controversial incident earlier this year, organizers had plenty of personnel on hand to keep matters civil

Talking ahead of the event, he stated that Ricky had been a "idol"

"I can't truly process it", Benn said

"Hatton had been a person who really helped my career and also somebody that took me in. Similar to a father figure might"

"He made me feel at home when I didn't have stability. He represented so much to me. Extremely close to my heart as well as my relatives"

"Ricky Hatton was somebody I admired as a man, he became my inspiration", Benn continued

"He remains an icon. It is even now difficult to process. I have no words. My condolences to his loved ones"
