Games 100m Medal Winner Fred Kerley Joins Enhanced Games Weeks Following Suspension

This Games sprint silver and bronze medallist Fred Kerley is set to participate in the inaugural Enhanced Games, competition organisers announced this week, just a short time after the Athletics Integrity Unit issued the American a provisional suspension for whereabouts failures.

The Athlete Makes Landmark Decision

This reigning sprint global title holder becomes the first track athlete and American man to participate in the competition that permits athletes to use performance-enhancing drugs that are not allowed in official sports events.

“I’m looking forward to this new chapter and taking part at the Enhanced Games,” said the sprinter. “The world record has always been my main aim of my career. It now gives me the opportunity to dedicate everything to pushing my limits and becoming the quickest person to has ever existed.”

Enhanced Games: A New Frontier or Health Risk?

Organisers say that the competition can assist in transforming athletic research as it challenges worldwide anti-doping standards, while opponents have criticized it as harmful to competitors' well-being.

Enhanced Games filed an competition lawsuit against World Aquatics, USA Swimming and the global anti-doping organization for as much as $800m in August, alleging an unlawful campaign to “eliminate” the competition. The anti-doping agency previously called the competition as “harmful and reckless”.

Expanding List of Elite Competitors

Kerley is alongside several elite aquatic athletes who have previously agreed for the competition, such as Olympic silver medallist athlete Ben Proud, the first British competitor to join.

“Kerley’s decision to participate with us does not just demonstrates our goal of organizing the most exciting athletic competitions out there, but also strengthens the increasing appeal of the Enhanced Games as the future of elite athletics,” said the Enhanced Games CEO, Maximilian Martin.

This inaugural Enhanced Games is set for Las Vegas in May 2026.
